MCP overview

How Growth Method thinks about MCP, the emerging interface to the marketing stack.

We believe agents and MCP-backed services will become the primary way marketers work, the front door to the entire marketing stack, over the next few years. Increasingly, that work won’t happen in a web browser.

“The work on MCP has completely revolutionized the agentic AI landscape.”

Jensen Huang, President and CEO of NVIDIA

As this shifts, traditional apps become mostly headless backends that provide data and functions to AI agents through standards like MCP. The user interface becomes something power users open occasionally, rather than the place day-to-day work happens. For the average marketer, that means less friction and less context switching.

Why MCP

With MCP, your AI agent “just knows” how to navigate your marketing stack: it understands each vendor’s API, chains requests, passes parameters, and handles errors. You don’t need to know API specs or endpoints, you just describe the task. We’re bullish on MCP as the glue for the marketing stack because it gives you:

  • An industry standard
  • First-party, vendor-maintained servers
  • Standards-based authentication via OAuth
  • A natural language interface
  • One-click installation through MCP directories

MCP and your campaigns

Some examples of what you can ask once Growth Method and your analytics tools are connected via MCP:

  • “What campaigns have we launched in the last six months?”
  • “Which campaigns from the last six months could have affected our site-wide conversion rate?”
  • “Give me a breakdown of last quarter’s campaigns by channel.”
  • “Who shipped the most campaigns last month? Make a leaderboard.”
  • “Which page gets significant traffic but has the biggest drop in conversion rate? Use the hypothesis builder to create a campaign to address it.”

Server or client

Growth Method works as both an MCP server and an MCP client:

  • MCP server: add data to your campaign analysis from an AI client like ChatGPT or Claude.
  • MCP client: pull data into your campaign analysis without leaving Growth Method.

See MCP server and MCP client to decide which fits your team.

Note: new MCP protocol versions are released roughly every three months, so functionality can change.
